Can you accommodate my camper's dietary needs?

YES! We ask that you include any dietary need in your camper's paperwork when registering them for camp to guarantee the proper accommodations. For any major concerns regarding food, please contact Banjo at 513-867-0600 or banjo@gmvymca.org.

What does your menu look like?

YMCA Camp Campbell Gard's menu rotates throughout the summer. As the summer approaches, we will release a complete menu detailing meals that will be served each week.

During their week at camp, campers receive three complete meals a day. During each meal, there are always alternative sides available to all campers. For breakfast, this means access to fruit, cereal, and yogurt alongside their meal. During lunch and dinner this means access to a salad bar alongside their meal.

What do your cabins look like?

All of our cabins are air-conditioned and have two wings and a shared main room. Each wing is furnished with bunkbeds for our campers and counselors. Within each wing of the cabin there is a bathroom with 2 private showers, 2 sinks, and a toilet cubicle.

Can my camper be in the same cabin as a friend or family member?

Absolutely, as long as both campers are the same gender and close in age. To request a cabin-mate, please fill out the appropriate section within the registration form.

If there are any questions or concerns about cabin-mate requests, please call our camp office at 513-867-0600 or e-mail captain@gmvymca.org.

What if my camper takes medication?

Our Health Care Professional dispenses all medications. Simply bring prescription medication to camp along with a written order listing your child's name, dosage. and medication times. Please also supply any necessary over-the-counter items such as vitamins, creams, lotions, etc. if your camper utilizes them regularly.

All items must be turned in at check-in with the camper's name on each.

ALL MEDICATIONS AND ITEMS MUST BE IN THEIR ORIGINAL CONTAINER. We cannot accept or administer any medications unless they in their original container.

Please specify any over the counter medication preferences of those you with your child to avoid on the Health Form.

We strongly suggest that campers stay on regular daily medication during their time at camp.

Do you have open houses? Can we tour camp?

Tours are available by appointment all year. Please contact our camp office at                513-867-0600 or campoffice@gmvymca.org.

Can I call or visit my camper during camp?

Through past experiences, we feel that it is better for your camper if they have the opportunity to enjoy the camp experience without interruption. We encourage you to send your camper letters and e-mails during their week at camp. We also upload photos throughout the week to allow you many snapshots of what your camper has enjoyed at camp!

I just registered my camper. Now what?

You will receive an email from our office that confirms your registration as well as sends the necessary paperwork for your campers week at camp.

ALL FORMS MUST BE COMPLETED AND RETURNED BY MAY 15TH.

What should my camper NOT bring to camp?

We "UNPLUG" at camp to get more connected with people. Therefore, any and all electronics are not allowed.

We also ask that your camper does not bring gum, money, firearms, matches, lighters, knives, tobacco or nicotine products, illegal drugs, or fireworks to camp.

Camp is not responsible for any lost or damaged items, so we ask that your camper leaves all valuable items at home.

Is a YMCA membership required to register for camp?

Nope! We do not require a Y membership in order to attend YMCA Camp Campbell Gard. Everyone is welcome at CCG however we do offer a discounted rate to those who are members of the Great Miami Valley YMCA.

Is a deposit required to register?

We do require a $100 non-refundable deposit to hold a spot for your camper.

What is the heat treatment for luggage?

Any time we host a group of people overnight at CCG, we heat treat all clothing and bedding. We ask that you separate all toiletries, shoes, and other knick-knacks from your camper's clothing and bedding prior to the heat treatment. If you are unsure of what is safe to go through our heat treatment, a good rule-of-thumb is to think of our heater as dryer. If it would go through a cycle in the dryer, it should go through our heater.

Please do NOT send bags or luggage through our heater if they have plastic pieces as they may melt. Please do NOT pack clothing in plastic bags, as they could melt and damage the clothing.

What if my camper gets homesick?

Homesickness is perfectly normal. Not everyone experiences it, and some feel it more than others. Working through homesickness can often be one of camper's greatest accomplishments. Beating homesickness can often lead to greater self-confidence in many other areas as well. Here are important tips to follow to help your child overcome homesickness:

  • Please do not do the following:
    • Bargain with your camper about how long they have to stay at camp.
    • Ask your camper to try camp for a short period of time and tell them they can come home if they aren't happy. This is commonly referred to as the "pick-up deal" and almost always results in homesickness.

Lastly we ask that you please trust us; your camper is in good hands. Know that if your camper is really struggling, we will call you.

What should I do if my camper lost something at camp?

Following each week of summer camp, we collect all lost property and store it in our camp office. If you believe your camper has left something behind, please contact our camp office at 513-867-0600 or campoffice@gmvymca.org. From there, we will do our best to locate the missing item and arrange a way for it to be returned.

After September 1st, CCG will typically donate any remaining unclaimed lost and found items.
